I didn’t greet you
with open arms
because at that
moment my arms
were full of you,
who I wanted
to hold, but the rain
kept me waiting for
a cue – motionless–
There was no
mention of God
as Rue’s scent
lured us..resinous…
or was it me?
Was I the one?
I wanted to
foster dismay.
So, I decided to not
say hello today.
Awkward feeling,
tempting disdain.
I knew the
agony would
feed your fancy.
I was wagering
to be your prey.
So, I decided
to not say
hello today.

One must become focused when in the presence of a true sadistic psychopath. There is nothing like it..not all the denial in the universe can re-route its path, and I mean NOTHING! We see it in the horror movies, or should I say maybe you see it because only under absolute duress will you catch me filling my mental image picture depository with such pain, torture, fear, etc. NO WAY!! And yes, we see it in the ever-growing crime shows, which are more often than not the prevailing drama viewing on basic cable TV.
There must be an explanation, some solution. I do not get it, and I am not talking about the common snub or rejection..or maybe not so common. This is the stuff that builds raw “backbone” or produces a true introvert. This is the complete undoing of self-esteem and confidence. This is the annihilation that takes a renaissance reconstruction to rebuild.
I don’t mean to be harsh. I believe there is a tug and pull relationship between humans. There are festivities and duels, winners and losers, entertainers and observers, perpetrators and victims. We are indeed complicated. We can escape analysis, religious classification, peer generalization. We can even become immune to scientific cures. All in the “Jekyll and Hyde” game of life. This game could be as old as time, and I am not innocent.
A psychopath is defined as “A person with a personality disorder indicated by a pattern of lying, cunning, manipulating, glibness, exploiting, heedlessness, arrogance, delusions of grandeur, sexual promiscuity, low self-control, disregard for morality, lack of acceptance of responsibility, callousness, and lack of empathy and remorse. Such an individual may be especially prone to violent and criminal offenses.” (American Heritage Dictionary)
A monster could be created from any or all of these characteristics in one’s mind. Also, these characteristics can be broken into other parts that are negative socially or personally.
Dr. Morbius’ monster in the movie “The Forbidden Planet” produced by Nicholas Nayfack is born from his primal subconscious mind which was his need to control and preserve, mine emanates from my cowardice as my poem indicates. I didn’t say hello to my psychopath because I was afraid of his abuse, but I also wanted to “foster his dismay” and wager my chances of riling his ire, or just really piss him off!
